The Delhi Nurses Federation (DNF) has demanded the immediate removal of Medical Superintendent of Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, Dr Vikas Rampal, over alleged ‘sexual harassment’ of female nursing officer Geeta Rani.
A DNF press notes states: “It has come into federation's notice that Dr Rampal has been harassing Ms Rani for a long time, which is shameful. It has also come into notice that Dr Rampal has been curious to know about personal life of nurses and making improper remarks.” The DNF press note has been issued and signed by Mr Leela Dhar Ramchandani, General Secretary, DNF.
Mr Ramchandani added that in view of this continued bad behavior by Dr Rampal, he does not have any right to continue in his position. Mr Ramchandani said that this behavior indicates that he has let down his status and position.
“Impartial probe is not possible if he sticks to his position. This has caused Ms Rani mental trauma. Considering the seriousness of the issue, the federation demands to remove Dr Rampal from his position immediately so that a feeling of rule of law can be restored among nurses,” says Mr Ramchandani in the press note.
It is noted the Ms Geeta Rani is unmarried and works in the de-addiction ward of the Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital. She had alleged in her complaint that Dr Rampal was a man of loose character.
“He would indulge in indecent talk with female subordinates every now and then. He would leave no opportunity to touch or hold hands of female colleagues,” she had alleged.
