Amlodipine
It is a dihydropyridine Ca antagonist, with a long duration of action used for the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris. It inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into the cardiac muscle and smooth muscleHypertension, angina including chronic stable and vasospastic types.
5-10 mg once a day
Hypersensitivity
Liver disease. Paediatrics: Not recommended. Pregnancy: Unsafe. Lactation:Unsafe.To be used if clearly indicated. Elderly: Reduce dose may be necessary.
Headache, fatigue, somnolence, dizziness, flushing, palpitations, nausea, peripheral oedema & abdominal pain
Potentiates effects of thiazide diuretics & ACE inhibitors.
