Lactitol (B-galactosido-sorbitol) monohydrate is a disaccharide analogue of lactulose. Lactitol is a second generation disaccharide agent used frequently as a laxative. The pleasant taste, non-absorbable sugar make it prefer over lactulose.

Indications

Hepatic encephalopathy and constipation.


Dosage

15-30ml.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity, GI obstruction, hereditary fructose, intilerense, galactosemia


Side Effects

Flatulence, rebound constipation.
