Mission Indradhanush: Enhancing Immunisation Coverage Across India
The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, underscored the success of Mission Indradhanush, a special vaccination initiative under the Universal Immunization Programme. This campaign targets areas with low immunization coverage, aiming to vaccinate children and pregnant women who have been left out or dropped out of regular immunization schedules.
The program offers 11 vaccines included in the National Universal Immunization Programme, addressing preventable diseases and safeguarding public health.
Since its launch, Mission Indradhanush has made a significant impact, vaccinating 5.46 crore children and 1.32 crore pregnant women in various phases conducted across the country. The initiative has substantially boosted vaccine coverage under the National Universal Immunization Programme, ensuring better health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
By reaching underserved areas, the campaign represents a critical step in India's effort to reduce health inequities and achieve universal immunization goals.
