TRYPSIN AND CHYMOTRYPSIN

TRYPSIN AND CHYMOTRYPSIN

They are pancreatic enzymes which have been used locally like streptokinase-streptodornase. They act on more proteins than the latter and also on mucin. Given orally both enzymes are probably useful for allaying inflammation, haemotomas and bruising. It is possible that oral chymotrypsin may reduce sputum viscosity, though not in patients with abnormal mucus (mucoviscidosis).

Adjunctive therapy in management of inflammatory oedema due to injury, surgery, infection or dental procedures.

Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity.
