Govt Disburses Over ₹3,600 Crore to TB Patients Under Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana
In a significant effort to support tuberculosis (TB) patients across the country, the Government of India has provided nutritional assistance of ₹1,000 per month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under the Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana. So far, a total of ₹3,635.29 crore has been disbursed, benefitting 1.24 crore TB patients.
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, shared this update in response to a parliamentary query, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving TB care and recovery.
The Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana, launched in 2018, aims to reduce the financial burden on TB patients by ensuring they receive adequate nutrition throughout their treatment. Proper nutrition is critical to improving immunity and treatment outcomes in TB patients, making this financial support a crucial element in the nation’s fight against the disease.
India continues to lead large-scale interventions to eliminate TB, aligning with the global target of ending TB by 2030. The scheme not only reflects the government’s focus on patient welfare but also emphasizes accountability and sustained investment in public health.
