Organ Donation and Transplant Coordination Committee Concludes Successful "Angdaan Jan Jagrukta Abhiyaan"

The Organ Donation and Transplant Coordination Committee (ODTCC) has successfully concluded its month-long "Angdaan Jan Jagrukta Abhiyaan" (Public Awareness Campaign), which aimed to increase awareness about organ donation. The campaign featured a variety of impactful events designed to educate the public and promote the importance of organ donation.

The month-long initiative included a special felicitation ceremony where donor families were honored by the Medical Superintendent. Educational sessions were conducted on different transplant procedures, such as bone, renal, cornea, heart transplants, and skin bank operations. To further engage the community, MBBS students performed a "nukkad natak" (street play), and informative sessions were held for residents, students, nurses, staff, and security personnel. A quiz competition was also organized to test and enhance knowledge about organ donation. On the final day, judges, winners, and participants of various events were recognized and celebrated.

The campaign successfully reached medical professionals, students, and the general public, fostering a deeper understanding of organ donation and its life-saving potential. Dr. Vandana Talwar, Medical Superintendent, praised the ODTCC team for their successful efforts, stating that the initiative had significantly increased public awareness. She expressed hope that the campaign would lead to a rise in organ donation pledges and ultimately save many lives. Dr. Talwar also noted the successful completion of four cadaveric donations in the past six months, which have benefited multiple recipients.

Dr. Vandana Chakravarty, in charge of the ODTCC, expressed pride in the campaign's achievements. She highlighted that the campaign had educated many individuals about the critical importance of organ donation and had resulted in a notable increase in inquiries and pledges. Dr. Chakravarty emphasized that the work of the committee would continue, aiming to build a robust culture of organ donation within the community.

Dr. Binita and Dr. Sourabh, members of the ODTCC, reaffirmed their commitment to promoting organ donation through ongoing education and awareness programs.
