Wockhardt Hospitals Marks Patient Safety Week 2024, Focuses on Accurate Diagnosis

Wockhardt Hospitals, a prominent healthcare provider in India, has launched its Patient Safety Week 2024, aligned with global efforts for World Patient Safety Day.

The focus this year is on "Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety," emphasizing the essential role of timely and precise diagnoses in patient care. Under the slogan "Get it right, make it safe," the hospital is working to enhance diagnostic accuracy while promoting collaboration among healthcare professionals, patients, and families to boost safety in all departments.

In partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) patient safety campaign, Wockhardt Hospitals has organized a range of events to raise awareness, including workstations on International Patient Safety Goals to educate staff and patients on global safety standards, a poster competition centered on the theme of "Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety," and a quiz aimed at engaging patients and their families in safety awareness. Additionally, staff and consultant quizzes have been organized to encourage active participation among healthcare professionals. A unique element of the week is the creation of 60-second patient safety reels by consultants, with awards for the best entries at unit and group levels. The hospital is also holding a slogan competition where staff and patients can contribute ideas for improving safety, and patient safety officers, both clinical and non-clinical, are playing an active role in implementing these initiatives. Educational sessions are being held to stress the importance of critical test result awareness and timely reporting.

Interactive safety pavilions, set up in collaboration with laboratory, imaging, and inpatient units, are designed to educate patients and their families about diagnostic safety procedures. This initiative is part of Wockhardt’s broader commitment to delivering safe and effective care.

Speaking at the launch, Zahabiya Khorakiwala, Managing Director of Wockhardt Hospitals, reaffirmed the hospital's dedication to patient safety, emphasizing the importance of creating a culture of safety where every patient receives the highest standard of care. Dr. Clive Fernandes, Group Clinical Director and Chief Operating Officer, emphasized that patient safety is an ongoing journey, highlighting the significance of accurate diagnosis in improving patient outcomes. Dr. Parag Rindani, Chief Executive Officer, echoed these sentiments, stressing that accurate diagnosis is at the heart of providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Wockhardt Hospitals remains committed to prioritizing diagnostic accuracy and fostering a safer healthcare environment through active engagement with both staff and patients.
