Apollo Cancer Centres Host Inspiring Fashion Walk to Raise Breast Cancer Awareness
Apollo Cancer Centres, in collaboration with Mydream TV USA, hosted an inspiring and vibrant fashion walk at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi.
The event, centered around breast cancer awareness, brought together survivors, advocates, and supporters, all walking the runway with a purpose. The aim was to capture the essence of hope and resilience in the fight against breast cancer.
The initiative highlighted the growing need for early detection and screening, showcasing advanced breast cancer screening technologies designed to improve early detection rates. This is crucial as the incidence of breast cancer among young women in India is rising, with the most common age group being between 35 and 40 years. Currently, 10-20% of all breast cancer cases in India are reported in young women. This trend necessitates more awareness and outreach, as breast cancer in younger women often presents more aggressively and at advanced stages, making early detection vital for better outcomes.
Set against a backdrop of colorful lights and uplifting music, the fashion walk transformed the conventional catwalk into a platform for awareness and empowerment. Attendees were not only treated to an array of stunning designs but were also inspired by powerful stories of courage and perseverance, reinforcing the importance of early detection and the ongoing battle against breast cancer.
Dr. Ramesh Sarin, Senior Consultant, Surgical Oncology at Apollo Cancer Centres, emphasized the significance of early detection and compassionate care. “Breast cancer awareness is all about education and empowerment. Through this Fashion Walk, we aim to extend our reach and make a significant impact on public health. Early detection is crucial for improving survival rates, and our new screening technologies promise to revolutionize breast cancer diagnosis, offering women a better chance when the condition is most treatable. This event is more than a gathering; it's a testament to our progress and a promise to continue this vital work. Together, we weave a tapestry of hope and inspiration, where survivors share their stories and motivate others to prioritize their health,” she stated.
Dr. M.S. Kanwar, Pulmonologist at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, echoed these sentiments, stating, “This initiative is a testament to the resilience of breast cancer warriors and underscores the importance of early detection, which is pivotal in managing cancer outcomes effectively. Our collaboration with Mydream TV USA is vital in disseminating advanced screening techniques that can vastly improve early diagnosis rates. Seeing survivors take to the runway is a celebration of personal triumph and a powerful call to action for the community. By fostering a supportive environment, we are motivating individuals to take charge of their health and nurture a future where breast cancer is more detectable and treatable at its earliest stages.”
Ms. Rashmi Bedi, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Mydream TV USA & Mydream Entertainment LLC, expressed her pride in partnering with Apollo Cancer Centres to raise awareness about breast cancer. “This collaboration showcases the strength and grace of those who have battled breast cancer, turning the runway into a beacon of empowerment. It’s more than a show; it’s a celebration of life and resilience, and a call to action for increased awareness and early detection. By sharing these powerful stories, we aim to inspire a larger audience to take proactive steps in their health journeys,” she said.
One of the breast cancer survivors participating in the Fashion Walk shared her experience, saying, “Being part of the Fashion Walk is incredibly meaningful to me. Having faced breast cancer head-on, I know the challenges and fears that accompany a diagnosis. Yet, with Apollo Cancer Centre's cutting-edge treatments and compassionate care, I found the strength to fight back. Walking the runway is a celebration of my journey and my victory over breast cancer. It’s an opportunity to encourage others going through similar battles, to let them know they are not alone.”
The event also featured a panel discussion with leading experts, an awareness film, and the much-anticipated Fashion Walk. Families, friends, and supporters gathered to honour the brave hearts who have faced breast cancer with unwavering strength and determination. The celebration served as a poignant reminder of the importance of community support, early detection, and continued research to improve cancer care outcomes.
By bringing together survivors and supporters, Apollo Cancer Centres’ Fashion Walk emphasized that breast cancer awareness is not just about medical advancements but also about fostering a community of hope, resilience, and shared experiences.
