Delhi Police Training Doctors for Self Defense

AIIMS Partners With Delhi Police to Equip Female Doctors with Self-Defense Skills

In a proactive move to enhance the safety of women in healthcare, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has teamed up with the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC) of Delhi Police to provide self-defense training for its female doctors, residents, students, and staff. The initiative aims to empower women to protect themselves from potential threats and ensure their safety in the workplace.

The training program was officially launched with a ceremonial lamp-lighting by Dr. Nirupam Madaan, Medical Superintendent of AIIMS, and Ms. Renu Lata, Assistant Commissioner of Police (SPUWAC). Both leaders took the opportunity to inspire and encourage participants, emphasizing the importance of self-defense in today's environment.

The sessions will be conducted in multiple batches, each accommodating 100 participants, to maximize the number of women benefiting from the training. The initiative underscores AIIMS' commitment to safeguarding its female workforce and providing them with the tools to defend themselves in critical situations.

This collaboration between AIIMS and the Delhi Police marks a significant step toward fostering a safer and more secure environment for women in healthcare.
