Advanced Ventilator Set Up at Safdarjung Hospital

Safdarjung Hospital Enhances Neonatal Care with Advanced Ventilator

Safdarjung Hospital has made a significant leap in neonatal healthcare with the installation of the Drager Babylog VN600 Intensive Care Ventilator in its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This sophisticated piece of medical equipment, donated by the Sunshine Foundation, promises to revolutionize the care provided to critically ill newborns, especially those born prematurely or suffering from severe respiratory distress.

At the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Medical Superintendent of VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, described the addition as a transformative moment for the institution. Expressing gratitude to the Sunshine Foundation, Dr. Bansal said, "This contribution marks a milestone in our journey to deliver world-class healthcare to society's most vulnerable. The Drager Babylog VN600 stands among the finest neonatal ventilators available today, and its addition will undoubtedly save countless young lives."

Highlighting the ventilator’s cutting-edge technology, Dr. Ratan Gupta, Head of the Pediatrics Department, explained its features, including volume-targeted ventilation and automatic leakage compensation. "This equipment epitomizes the pinnacle of neonatal ventilation technology," he said. "It allows us to deliver precise respiratory support tailored to the unique needs of critically ill newborns, ensuring better outcomes for even the most fragile patients."

The Sunshine Foundation, represented by its trustee, Dr. Sandeep Aggarwal, reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure. "Our mission is to make quality healthcare accessible to all, particularly in critical care for newborns and children," he said. "This donation reflects our dedication to strengthening public healthcare systems and making a tangible difference."

The ventilator, which is now fully operational, is expected to address the growing demand for neonatal intensive care at Safdarjung Hospital, a facility serving patients from Delhi and neighboring states. The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior hospital officials, faculty, staff, and the CSR team, underscoring the collaborative effort that brought this initiative to life.

With this advanced ventilator, Safdarjung Hospital continues to raise the bar for neonatal care in India, reaffirming its commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services to the most vulnerable members of society.
