The Telangana government organized the "AI in Healthcare Summit—Road to BioAsia 2025," which highlighted artificial intelligence's revolutionary role in revolutionizing the healthcare sector. The event brought together industry leaders, healthcare professionals, academics, and students to discuss AI's potential applications in addressing India's specific healthcare issues.
The summit was opened by Shri Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Hon'ble Minister for IT, Industries, and Commerce, as well as Shri Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, and Shri Shakthi Nagappan, CEO of Telangana Life Sciences Foundation. The event highlighted groundbreaking initiatives aimed at advancing healthcare using artificial intelligence. Healthark Insights and C4IR Telangana released a whitepaper on AI in Pharma R&D, showcasing AI's potential to accelerate drug development and pharmaceutical innovation. Deloitte also delivered research on the emergence and effects of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India, highlighting their critical role in advancing AI-based solutions in healthcare. Additionally, Deloitte, in collaboration with DSCI, conducted research on cyber resilience in hospitals, addressing the growing need for comprehensive digital security frameworks to protect patient data and healthcare systems. These projects represent a strategic alignment of technological innovation, operational excellence, and cybersecurity in reshaping the healthcare landscape.
The introduction of the Life Sciences GCC Consortium logo exemplified Telangana's aim for encouraging collaboration in AI-powered healthcare innovation.
In his speech, Duddilla Sridhar Babu emphasized AI's revolutionary potential, noting, "Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing drug discovery, diagnostics, and patient care, steering healthcare toward greater efficiency and accessibility." Telangana's initiatives, including the AI Advisory Council and plans for an AI-focused institution, demonstrate our commitment to ethical and inclusive AI research. He announced the establishment of an AI city with cutting-edge infrastructure to drive healthcare innovation.
During his speech, Jayesh Ranjan emphasized the practical application of AI, stating, "AI is not just a tool; it is a transformative force that enhances diagnoses, optimizes operations, and improves patient care.""Our AI-driven solutions have ensured equitable access to quality care, even in remote areas," the CEO said.He also emphasized the need to support indigenous innovations by harnessing local talent and developing region-specific datasets.
Prominent speakers, including Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy of AIG Hospitals and Dr. Dean Ho of the National University of Singapore, demonstrated AI's practical uses. Topics covered everything from AI-powered diagnostics to personalized treatments, emphasizing AI's ability to fill holes in India's healthcare system.The meeting established the foundation for BioAsia 2025, set to take place in Hyderabad from February 24-26, 2025.
