Ayushman Vay Vandana Card Achieves Milestone: 25 Lakh Enrollments in Under Two Months

The Ayushman Vay Vandana Card, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 29, 2024, has reached a remarkable milestone of 25 lakh enrollments in less than two months.

This initiative represents a transformative step in providing accessible healthcare to senior citizens, addressing the needs of those aged 70 years and above with comprehensive health coverage.

Since the launch, the scheme has facilitated treatments worth over ₹40 crore, benefiting more than 22,000 elderly citizens. Medical conditions such as coronary angioplasty, hip replacement, cataract surgery, stroke management, and hemodialysis are among the diverse range of treatments availed by beneficiaries. The program ensures critical care for seniors, easing the financial burden of medical expenses for countless families.

The Ayushman Vay Vandana Card extends the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) to include all citizens aged 70 years and above, providing ₹5 lakh annual health coverage irrespective of socio-economic status. For seniors already covered under AB PM-JAY, the initiative adds an additional ₹5 lakh top-up annually, further enhancing their access to quality healthcare services. It also allows beneficiaries under other schemes, such as the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), and Ayushman Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), to choose between their existing benefits or opt for AB PM-JAY. Additionally, private health insurance holders and those covered by the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme are eligible to join the program.

The card provides coverage for approximately 2,000 medical procedures and ensures that all pre-existing conditions are covered from the very first day, eliminating the need for a waiting period. This seamless integration of benefits underscores the program's commitment to addressing the comprehensive healthcare needs of India’s elderly population.

Senior citizens can easily register for the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card through multiple channels, including visiting empanelled hospitals, using the Ayushman app, or accessing the registration portal at www.beneficiary.nha.gov.in. Additionally, support is available through a toll-free helpline or by giving a missed call to a designated number, ensuring that the process remains user-friendly and accessible.

By reaching this significant milestone, the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card has emerged as a beacon of hope for India’s senior citizens, providing them with financial security and peace of mind as they access critical healthcare services.

This achievement reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the well-being of the country’s elderly population, setting the stage for a more inclusive and equitable healthcare landscape.
