Dr. Munish Kumar Raizada: A Healthcare Professional’s Fight for Honest Politics in Delhi

Dr. Munish Kumar Raizada, a renowned neonatologist, is taking on a new challenge—one that has little to do with saving lives in the neonatal unit and everything to do with restoring integrity to Delhi's political system. After years of serving in the medical field, Raizada has made the bold decision to run against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the upcoming elections, campaigning as the candidate for the Bhartiya Liberal Party. His mission is clear: to bring the same dedication to transparency and accountability in governance that he applied to his medical career.

Raizada’s journey into politics began with a sense of idealism. Inspired by the Anna Hazare movement and the promise of a corruption-free India, he joined AAP in the hopes of contributing to a party that was set to transform the political landscape. At first, it seemed like AAP was the answer to a corrupt system that had long failed the people. But now, Raizada is disillusioned.

“The dream of a corruption-free India has become an uphill task,” Raizada says with frustration. “AAP promised change, but today, it has become just another political party—no different from the ones we’ve always had.”

Raizada is especially critical of AAP’s transformation since their overwhelming victory in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, where they won 67 out of 70 seats. “Back then, it felt like a breath of fresh air. AAP seemed like the answer to everything wrong with politics in Delhi. But now, it doesn’t feel any different than the traditional parties we’ve always fought against.”

Raizada’s growing disappointment led him to resign from AAP in 2016, just two years after joining, and even campaign to stop the funding of the party. “It’s not just about promises anymore. Kejriwal has made it incredibly difficult for those of us who still believe in honest politics to keep fighting for change,” he explains.

However, instead of stepping back, Dr. Raizada has chosen to step forward. His campaign is built on three core pillars: anti-corruption, good governance, and social justice. He’s not looking to reinvent the system but to redefine it so that it works for the people. “We don’t need new systems; we need a government that’s accountable. We need to eliminate corruption from the system we already have,” he insists.

A major concern for Dr. Raizada is the corruption that he sees within Delhi’s institutions, particularly the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). “It has become a breeding ground for corruption,” he says. “I want to clean up these institutions, hold people accountable, and ensure that the services the public relies on are free from bribery and inefficiency.”

But his commitment to change doesn’t stop at fighting corruption. Dr. Raizada also has a vision for social justice. “There are people in Delhi who feel forgotten, marginalized, left behind. I want to fight for them—the ones who don’t have access to the resources and opportunities they deserve.”

His expertise as a healthcare professional has also shaped his approach to improving Delhi’s healthcare system. While he believes that the city’s dispensaries and healthcare infrastructure are adequate, there are critical issues that need addressing. “The system works, but it’s not enough. We need to fill vacant positions, make sure that healthcare workers are given permanent jobs, and create a stable environment where no employee has to worry about their job security,” he stresses.

Raizada knows that the quality of healthcare depends on the people who provide it, and job security is key to a thriving workforce. “If healthcare workers aren’t happy or secure in their jobs, how can they serve the people?” he asks. By ensuring that healthcare workers feel supported and valued, Raizada believes Delhi can create a healthcare system that is both effective and compassionate.

Dr. Raizada’s political campaign is not just about winning an election; it’s about changing the way Delhi is governed. “Politics is about serving the people, not your own interests,” he says passionately. “If we bring honesty and integrity back into governance, we can build a Delhi that works for everyone.”

With a strong commitment to fighting for the people of Delhi, Dr. Raizada is determined to offer a government they can trust—one that works to improve the lives of everyday citizens and restores their faith in the political system. Whether it’s tackling corruption, ensuring social justice, or strengthening the healthcare system, his vision for Delhi is clear: a future of integrity, accountability, and a government that truly serves its people. And for Dr. Raizada, this fight is just beginning.
