Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences Launches Six Mobile Dental Clinics on World Oral Health Day

In a major step towards making dental care more accessible, the Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS) today inaugurated six state-of-the-art mobile dental clinics. Launched on the occasion of World Oral Health Day, these mobile units are set to bring quality dental services directly to the doorsteps of underserved communities across Delhi.

The initiative was formally inaugurated by Delhi Health Minister Dr. Panaj Kumar Singh, who commended MAIDS for its continued dedication to public health. “Oral health is often overlooked, but it is an integral part of overall well-being. These mobile clinics will ensure that essential dental care reaches those who need it most,” Dr. Singh said.

The newly launched mobile dental clinics are equipped with modern dental chairs, sterilization units, advanced diagnostic tools, and X-ray machines. Each van also features an infection control system and is stocked with all necessary medicines to provide comprehensive care, including dental check-ups, scaling, fillings, extractions, and preventive counseling.

Dr. Vikrant Mohanty, MOI/C (National Health Mission), highlighted the broader vision behind the initiative. “The objective of launching these vans is to ensure accessibility of dental care to the citizens of the capital and to also create awareness. These vans are equipped with X-ray machines, infection control systems, and all the necessary medicines will be available for the people,” he said.

The mobile clinics will visit schools, urban slums, and remote areas, addressing oral health challenges among populations that often lack access to timely care.

Oral health professionals continue to stress that neglected dental care can contribute to serious health issues like heart disease and diabetes. With this initiative, MAIDS is taking an important step in preventive care, ensuring that Delhi’s citizens receive timely dental attention and education.

The launch of these mobile clinics is expected to benefit thousands of people across the city and stands as a significant milestone in Delhi’s efforts to strengthen public healthcare delivery.
