Mometasone Furoate
Mometasone Furoate is a potent corticosteroid used primarily to treat various inflammatory skin conditions, nasal allergies, and asthma. It works by reducing inflammation, itching, and redness.-Allergic rhinitis (nasal allergy symptoms) -Asthma (inhalation for control of asthma symptoms) -Inflammatory skin conditions (such as eczema, psoriasis)
-Nasal Spray: Typically 1-2 sprays in each nostril once daily. -Inhalation (for asthma): Dosage varies; commonly 200-400 mcg twice daily. -Topical Cream/Ointment: Applied to affected area 1-2 times daily.
-Hypersensitivity to mometasone or any component of the formulation. -Use in patients with untreated bacterial, fungal, or viral infections at the site of application.
-Avoid contact with eyes; may cause irritation. -Use with caution in patients with a history of tuberculosis. -Monitor for potential systemic absorption effects, especially with prolonged use.
-Nasal Spray: Nosebleeds, nasal irritation, headache. -Inhalation: Oral thrush, hoarseness, cough. -Topical Cream/Ointment: Skin thinning, striae, local irritation.
-Nasal Spray/Inhalation: May interact with other corticosteroids, leading to increased systemic effects. -Topical Cream/Ointment: Minimal systemic absorption reduces interaction risks; however, use with other topical corticosteroids should be avoided.
