Piperacillin with Tazobactam
Piperacillin with tazobactam is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It is a penicillin antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.In moderate to sereve infections caused by piperacillin resistant, piperacillin/tazobactam suspectible, beta lactamase producing strains, in appendicitis, peritonitis, skin/soft tissue infection, lower respiratory tract infections, infection in neutropenic patients, intra abdominal infection and UTI.
IV infusion over 30 min. The usual total daily dose for adults is 12/1.5g 7 to 10 days given 4.5g every 8 hrs
Hypersensitivity
Before using piperacillin/tazobactam, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other antibiotics; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
Nausea, constipation, diarrhea, headache, or trouble sleeping may occur.
