Motherhood Hospitals Hosts Heartwarming World Prematurity Day Celebration in Navi Mumbai
Motherhood Hospitals in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, marked World Prematurity Day with an inspiring celebration that brought together parents, children, and healthcare professionals to spotlight the challenges and triumphs of preterm birth. The event, filled with joy and meaningful activities, underscored the importance of specialized neonatal care for premature infants.
The event featured a range of activities, including a fancy-dress competition, magic shows, mascot appearances, musical performances, and an emotional felicitation of preterm survivors. Families joined in a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony, and prizes and return gifts were distributed. The gathering saw the participation of 15 preterm infants and their parents, creating an atmosphere of warmth and hope.
The Growing Concern of Prematurity in India
Dr. Anish Pillai, Lead Consultant of Neonatology and Pediatrics at Motherhood Hospitals, highlighted the growing prevalence of preterm births in India. “Around 13% of babies in India are born premature, defined as being born before completing 37 weeks of gestation,” he explained. “Infants born at less than 28 weeks are categorized as extremely preterm and often face significant challenges, requiring extended stays in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs).”
Advances in medical technology have played a pivotal role in improving survival rates for preterm babies. Dr. Pillai noted the impact of innovations such as incubator care, advanced ventilation techniques, parenteral nutrition, and bedside ultrasound in neonatal care.
A Celebration of Resilience
The event also provided an opportunity to celebrate the resilience of preterm infants and their families. Dr. Rupali Kadam, Facility Director at Motherhood Hospitals, emphasized the hospital’s dedication to these young patients.
“The trust and gratitude of parents who have entrusted their children to our care speak volumes about our team’s commitment and expertise,” said Dr. Kadam. “This event wasn’t just about fun and celebration; it was about fostering a sense of community and support. We aim to create joyful experiences that strengthen the bond between families and healthcare providers.”
Raising Awareness and Inspiring Hope
Beyond the festivities, the celebration served as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of specialized care for preterm infants and the challenges associated with premature births. It reinforced Motherhood Hospitals’ commitment to providing top-notch care and support to families navigating the complexities of preterm births.
As families left with smiles and shared experiences, the event echoed a powerful message: with advanced care and a compassionate approach, premature infants can overcome their challenges and thrive. Motherhood Hospitals continues to lead the way in neonatal care, turning fragile beginnings into stories of resilience and hope.
