AIG Hospitals Set to Invest ₹800 Crore in Advanced Proton Beam Therapy for Cancer Treatment
AIG Hospitals in Hyderabad has announced a big investment of ₹800 crore to buy an advanced proton therapy system, including one from IBA, a leading company in proton therapy technology based in Belgium. AIG Hospitals will be the first place in Southeast Asia to use this new system, making it a leader in cancer treatment in the area.
One of the best forms of radiation treatment currently available is proton beam therapy. It can deliver very precise radiation, which helps it focus on tumours while doing little harm to nearby healthy tissues. This accuracy is essential for treating cancers in delicate areas, like those close to vital organs, and in children's cancer care.
“At AIG Hospitals, we always focus on putting patients first in everything we do.” Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals, said, “Getting the Proton Beam Therapy System and working with IBA is an important step in our goal to offer advanced and caring treatment.” He also said, “The Proteus®ONE Proton Therapy System will be part of our new 300-bed oncology centre being built in the Gachibowli campus, allowing us to provide complete cancer care that is as excellent as the best in the world.”
AIG Hospitals will be the third place in India to provide proton therapy and the first in the Telugu-speaking areas of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The new oncology centre will provide complete cancer care. This includes medical treatment, radiation therapy, surgery, support services, research, and training.
Mr. PVS Raju, Vice Chairman of AIG Hospitals, said about the development, “Getting Proton Beam Therapy technology fits well with AIG Hospitals' goal of offering top cancer care in India.” This new treatment will improve the hospital's complete cancer care services.
The hospital's decision to invest heavily in this technology demonstrates its commitment to improving cancer treatment in India. Proton therapy is becoming more known as an important option in cancer treatment, especially for difficult cases that need very accurate care.
