GGSIPU Introduces Job-Focused Medical Courses for 2025-26 Academic Year
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) is taking a big step towards enhancing career opportunities for students by launching new, job-oriented medical courses starting in the 2025-26 academic session. From MSc in Molecular Diagnostics to Physiotherapy and Radiological Physics, these programs are designed to provide students with practical skills that will get them job-ready in no time.
At the release of the course brochures at East Delhi Campus, Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahesh Verma shared exciting news about these new offerings. Among the standout programs are the MSc in Microbiology, which will be taught at the Center of Excellence for Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the MSc in Molecular Diagnostics, offered at the Narela campus. There's also the highly anticipated PG Diploma in Radiological Physics, a course that promises immediate job opportunities in the booming field of X-ray diagnostics—a crucial and in-demand area in healthcare.
These courses are just the beginning. GGSIPU is also offering over 40,000 seats across a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs for the upcoming academic year, spread across 106 affiliated colleges and 18 university schools.
What's more, Prof. Verma announced that this year, around 250 additional seats have been added, building on the 1,600 extra seats from last year. The university is clearly expanding its reach and making room for more bright minds.
Starting February 1, 2025, the online application process will kick off for 46 master's programs, 40 PhD courses, and 34 undergraduate degrees. With classes set to begin on August 1, 2025, prospective students can look forward to an exciting new academic journey at one of the capital's leading institutions.
A couple of key updates have been introduced to make the admissions process even more inclusive. For instance, GGSIPU will reserve one seat in each program for single girl child candidates, and there's a 2% sports quota for university schools. To ensure a smooth process, 52 common entrance tests (CETs) will be held from April 26 to May 18, 2025. For specific programs like MBA, LLB, and LLM, online counseling will start in May, followed by counseling for other programs in June.
Admissions will be based on national-level tests such as JEE Mains, NEET UG & PG, CAT, CMAT, and others, while some programs will also accept merit from qualifying exams. For vacant seats, CUET will be used to admit students into 20 undergraduate and 18 postgraduate programs.
Another exciting change this year is the increase in the EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) scholarship fund, which has been raised from Rs 2.5 crore to Rs 3.5 crore to support deserving students. And in a move to expand globally, GGSIPU is planning to launch an offshore campus in Guyana, marking a new chapter in its international growth.
But that’s not all. The university has also revamped its admission criteria for several programs. For example, B.Sc. Nursing, the B.Sc.-MSc Dual Degree in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and M.Tech programs in Food Processing Technology and Biotechnology will now include a combination of merit and interviews, alongside traditional entrance exams.
With these exciting developments, GGSIPU is clearly focused on preparing students for the future by offering innovative and career-centric courses that meet the needs of the ever-evolving job market. The university is making sure that students not only get an education but also the practical skills needed to thrive in their chosen fields.
